Artist in Residence
Be Davison Herrera’s work is focused on the practice of literacy, performing and
visual art as a peaceful pursuit of truth, laughter and justice. A circumnavigator,
welder and hand spinner, her work has been shown in eight states of her native
USA and on four continents in Canada, China, El Salvador, France, Germany,
Italy and Mexico.
She uses words as tools in books including 16 anthologies, eight solo illustrated
handmade books and three solo books of poems as well as being one of 12 lead artists
in THE MILLENNIUM BOOK found in 18 locations on our planet. With Dr. Sax, Herrera
has created live poetry and music events as part of COMET & STAR in over 34 venues.
Some of her poems have been translated in to French, Vietnamese and Spanish.
She was honored to be chosen as one of the first members of the Sacramento
International Poets Hall of Fame.
Be Herrera has been privileged to be a resident/guest artist in locations ranging
from Yosemite National Park to the International School in Islamabad, Pakistan,
serving in over 100 schools, as resident artist for 17 year at Trinity Episcopal
Cathedral and for 12 years with Very Special Arts.
She currently lives on a hill surrounded by 21 Oregon white oaks with her family
- three humans, one cat, squirrels, mule deer, woodpeckers and a steel bear
rescued from a carnival sideshow.
